Regional Manager - South Midlands

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Manager to join the team. Looking after the South Midlands region which includes Gloucester, Milton Keynes, Stevenage and Stratford Upon Avon to name a few.

Part of Grafton Group PLC, Buildbase is the third largest supplier of building materials, operating through a national network of over 155 branches employing c2,300 colleagues.  As an over-arching business, Buildbase comprises a number of individual brands which include Buildbase (core building materials), Hirebase, Electricbase, Showroom and Supply Chain Solutions.  We are currently undertaking a major transformational project, changing the very core of how we do business.

Being part of the Buildbase Southern Division Leadership Team, as Regional Manager for the South Midlands, you will have your own regional P&L combined with the responsibility for the operational performance for a network of 13 branches. The key to being successful in this exciting role is building strongly engaged branch teams, alongside driving exceptional sales and margin growth.  You will create a ‘winning’ attitude amongst all your branch colleagues, taking a continuous improvement approach in order to maximise every opportunity.

Delivering standout customer experience is critical, so you will lead from the front in your region, constantly seeking out opportunities to develop the customer experience within your branch network, bringing forward new ideas and challenging established practices to ensure the Buildbase offering is genuinely best in class.  

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and delivering sales and margin plans for each individual branch, driving exceptional sales and margin growth
  • Delivering the transformational project objectives into each branch operation
  • Utilising business intelligence to drive decision making, creating a data-driven culture amongst your management team
  • Building a high-performing branch management team by creating a highly engaged culture at all levels
  • Playing an active role in the divisional management team, ensuring the continued development of the overall division
  • Building strong relationships with key customers, continuously looking for ways to develop the customer experience regardless of customer size
  • Developing key supplier relationships, with the objective of maximising their support in the delivery of the joint regional objectives
  • Having full responsibility for the health and safety of colleagues and customers across the region

Experience:

  • An in-depth knowledge of the Builders merchant environment in the region
  • A strong track record of recruiting top talent and creating high-performing teams, driving exceptional performance through a ‘winning’ mentality
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering branch and regional plans resulting in substantial growth in both sales and margin
  • A customer service led approach, with a focus on delivering competitor differentiation through the customer experience
  • Highly numerate and analytical with a background in data-driven decision making
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Managing health and safety across branch networks, and demonstratable experiences of managing the safety risks associated with managing a busy Builders Merchant business
